SigEp continually fields the most dominate Greek sports teams at CSU. Unmatched in intramurals, SigEp participates in nearly every sport offered by the university. Our members are provided with an opportunity to play, as the house fields multiple teams in every sport. Regardless of skill, members within the house have an opportunity to play.
Scholarship
SigEp knows the principal reason to be in college is to achieve academic excellence and earn a degree. SigEp is one of the top performers in grades on campus, and is continually ranked in the top three of of CSU Fraternities, on top of the the consistent evidence that Greek members perform significantly better academically and graduate more often.

Brotherhood in Sigma Phi Epsilon offers some of the most widespread actives for all interests. Due to our excellent sorority relations, there is no shortage of events to attend or functions to meet new people at. We are frequently a top choice among sororities for the functions that they host. SigEp stresses a balanced approach that compliments hard work during the day for positive academics and events and mixers at night when the work is done. Everything that you will do within SigEp will be approached with a positive attitude that makes every event fun.

A Great House
SigEp at CSU has the most distinct and historic house on campus at 121 E Lake Street. The massive red brick mansion has been home to us for over three quarters of a century. It is one of the few “true” Greek houses on campus in appearance with its white columns out front. It is truly a home away from home with between 30+ brothers living in. SigEp also has a full time house mother and cook preparing fresh meals daily and a live in graduate academic advisor.
A Good Deal in a Challenging Economic Time
SigEp offers the most financially responsible way to go to CSU. Living in the SigEp house is less expensive than living in the dorms, less expensive than living in an off campus apartment or house, and is has several other benefits. Included in payment is a full meal plan through our cook, a full calendar of social events, and all utilities. Even more helpful are scholarships offered through the house for its own undergraduate members by the alumni of SigEp. With all of the benefits, SigEp is truly the most economical way to attend CSU.
The Biggest and The Best: Strength in Numbers
Not just a national fraternity, but the biggest national fraternity... and it has been that way for over 25 years. Founded in 1901, SigEp now boasts over 14,000 undergraduate members with over 260 chapters across the country. SigEp also has the greatest living alumni population of any fraternity in America. With over 55 active brothers, SigEp is one of the largest fraternities at CSU.
Fraternities and fraternal societies date back centuries. As with all long lasting institutions, Greek letter organizations have gone through periods of change, sometimes for the better, sometimes not. In today’s society, you might wonder if any reason still exists to GO GREEK. The answer may surprise you. Fraternities are still a vibrant part of the Colorado State and Fort Collins community. They still provide the best opportunity to meet people and make new friends, develop leadership skills, and make a difference on the campus and in the community.
Academics are probably your greatest concern as well it should be. Your academic transcript is a great determinant of your career success. The primary mission of all fraternities is to encourage and develop high scholastic achievement among its members. It’s also important to note that while only 50% of all college males graduate from their freshman institution, the graduation rate for fraternity members is over 70%.
These days it takes more than a good transcript to get a job – employers are looking for leadership experience. As a fraternity man, you’ll be a leader as an officer, committee member, or just a participant. You’ll learn how to manage a budget, run effective meetings, speak in public, and motivate others.
Fraternities are part of the greater campus and thus contribute to the community in a variety of ways. Many Greek organizations volunteer their time to causes like Habitat for Humanity, Youth Aids, Project America, Journey of Hope, or the American Heart Association. They fully participate in the Intramural sports program and many varsity athletes are fraternity men. Greek men and women have headed Colorado State’s ASCSU, SLiCE, and the LSC Governing Board.
There are other advantages to fraternity membership like networking and travel. Many fraternities have houses in places you may need to visit. When traveling to these places, you’ll have a place to stay and instant friends in town. When it is time to look for that summer job or internship, you will have had the opportunity to meet your organizations alumni, giving you an inside advantage to finding the position that is right for you.
Above all, through your fraternity experience you will make friendships that will last a lifetime. These friendships, what we call brotherhood, will be deeper and closer than any others in your life. Brotherhood is the foundation of the fraternity experience and combines the best of individualism and communal respect and cooperation. Your fraternity brothers will be at your side to share in your successes and offer you support in your disappointments. Brotherhood means having a family no matter the distance or situation.
The Power of 2%
Since the founding of the American college fraternity movement in 1776, fraternities have grown to symbolize leadership, independence, scholastic achievement and service to their various campuses and communities.
Fraternity men represent a very small percentage, only two percent, of the male population in the United States. However, that two percent is a very powerful group of individuals! Fraternity men have gone on to hold many of the top positions in our nation, from the business world to the political arena.
- 68% of US Presidents since 1868 have been Greek.
- 42% of US Senators are Greek.
- 30% of US Congressmen/women are Greek.
- 40% of all US Supreme Court Justices have been Greek
- 10% of all listed in the Who's Who are Greek.
- Of North America’s 50 largest corporations, 43 are headed by Greeks.
- 80% of the top executives of Fortune 500 companies are Greek.
- All of the Apollo 11 astronauts were Greek.
It is certainly no surprise that today’s college and university students express a keen interest in the Greek system. The opportunities are endless, and the benefits speak for themselves. Each year, thousands of young men enter the working world with the competitive advantage of fraternity experience and alumni contacts.
Forbes.com
A recent article on Forbes.com states, "…about a quarter of all chief executives on the Forbes Super 500 list of America's largest corporations were members of college fraternities." The article continues to state, "The social skills that help students gain admittance into the Greek system are the same aptitudes that can later give them a leg-up in corporate climbing. Plus, once they've graduated, they can tap into the network of past fraternity brothers or sisters who litter all tiers of corporate America."
Membership in a fraternity is not only beneficial in a professional or political career. The benefits start immediately upon joining:
- Fraternity membership increases college retention rates by 28%.
- Greeks contribute over $7,000,000 and 850,000 hours to charity/community service each year.
- 70% of Greek members graduate college, as opposed to only 50% of non-Greek students.
- Greek-affiliated students are more likely to be involved on campus.
- College fraternity graduates tend to be more financially successful than non fraternity graduates.
- Colleges receive more gifts-and in greater amounts-from Greek alumni.
- Greek alumni are more satisfied with their social development than no Greeks.
- As adults, Greeks belong to more civic organizations, and are more likely to donate time and money to those groups.
